Faces lost in iPhoto

For reasons I don’t understand, when I opened iPhoto it seemed as though it were reinstalling/updating itself, replete with a progress bar and accompanying notes. I had no say in the matter and I feared a hard quit, so I allowed it to continue.

AFAIK, my photos are still there and all is normal, except all my “Faces” have disappeared (and it was a long-time exercise in creating them).

I have a backup that is 3 weeks old and I hope the iPhoto files in that are not corrupt and can copied back to my main drive, but I don’t which files/where to copy.

So how do I get my faces back?

Harv what specific version of iPhoto are you running?

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

To make a long story short, I clicked on the iPhoto Library file resident at: ~/Pictures. It took a few seconds for it to do its thing and then voilà, my faces were restored.

So I then opened the iPhoto app in the Applications Folder and all is again right with the world.

But what happened to cause the problem and why the problem resolved by clicking as I did is mystery far beyond the likes moi.

I remain confused, but happy.
