if those documents are sufficiently old, (OS 9 format?) the data is probably stored in the resource fork, in the "exif" resource.
fastest way I know of to zap a resource fork is to drag the files to a DOS formatted flash drive, which will split off the resource fork to another file) and then drag it back to another folder on your mac. be sure your documents have file extensions (.ps, .ai, etc) before you do this or they will come back as unknown types.
