OS 10.5.8 P/E4 illustrator.
Whilst selecting colorsync utility to open some files,
a window popped up(profile first aid)telling me of a bad file and that it could not be repaired. Listed as Tag 'desc'. tag size not correct.
I tracked it via app.support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/Recommended/ CoatedFOGRA27.icc
Question: can I just trash this file?
I don't know if it would make any difference to anything.

I've seen mac os x tag several colorsync profiles as bad. I suspect the profiles are not 100% following specifications, and OS X has finally decided to tighten the requirements on validity of the icc files following format. They're used to give colorsync an idea of how your display works, the brightness, whitepoint, gama, and color gamut etc. If you don't have a profile file for a display you attach, it can't colorsync it and will use a default profile, or you will have to go through the steps to manually build a profile. So if you need very accurate color on the display that icc is for, either find a good copy or be prepared to calibrate it yourself if you delete it.

Thanks for your reply.
I havn't noticed anything unusual so I think I'll just leave well alone. Plus the fact I don't know how fix it anyway!

it's one of those very specific features apple made for a small subset of their customers, the graphics artists and publishers that require very exact color matching. It's the difference in people that would say "that picture looks a little different on my screen" vs "omigod look at that ORANGE!"

Thanks.
You've confirmed my belief it's nothing to worry about.
