 Text disappearing while typing

I’ve got this infuriating problem where my text disappears in the middle of typing in Messages, although it does reappear with ⌘ Z. It doesn’t happen in either TextEdit or Safari.
If there's any consistent action on my part that's at the problem's root, I haven't noticed it.
Is anyone else experiencing it?
I take it back! It just happened in Safari as I was typing this, and it may have something to do with reaching the end of a line.

About a week ago I experienced a similar thing in Apple Mail. Very perplexing, but it has not reoccurred and no clue why it even happened. My only guess there was something about the email to which I was typing the reply message. 
On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

Check out MacOS 14.3.1 update. It addresses text typing issues.
On a Mac since 1984.

Thanks, it's on my to-do list.
Software Update mentions only one specific typing issue, though, so I hope it's not the whole shebang.

So far, so good?
I didn't have the disappearing text issue, but updated anyway.
My issue is my new HP monitor. Before upgrading to Sonoma, it wasn't being recognized most of the time. After, it was, most of the time. I'm hoping that now, that will be all of the time.
It was an issue after going to sleep, but a Restart fixed it.

No definitive answer yet. It was/is(?) an erratic thing, and I lost some text last night, but not the same as I've been experiencing, so I can't be sure.
I'll update after I've gone an extended period with no aggravation.

Well, so far I haven't experienced my original problem, which occurred at the end of a line of type...almost exclusively in Messages, but once in a Safari post, but I've run into e new one - twice now - while posting in Safari where the beginning of a line disappears. This is a recurring problem, even with the latest macOS update installed. I'm beginning to wonder if I've got a problem with my keyboard. I think I'll call Apple and ask if there's any kind of diagnostic they can run if I bring my MBP in.
