I just "upgraded" from Ventura to Sonoma 14.1 moments ago.
BE PREPARED for some annoyances! It is glitchy.
Some examples:
1. Safari Tool Bar icons are "greyed out" and do not function . . . unless/until the computer is rebooted a couple of times after the initial installation.
2. When sliding the mouse curser to adjust the colour scale in Wallpaper, the action is not smooth at all. In fact, it jerks around so much that the process crashes. (Message: Settings Error/Extension process Wallpaper 1878 exited)
3. There is a delay in moving from one panel to the next in System Settings. The response time is not as immediate as in Ventura ( i.e. the computer takes extra time to "think" about what it has been asked to do.)
These are just a few of what I discovered within the first 15 minutes of using Sonoma. I anticipate more to come. Personally, I would recommend waiting for the 14.2, if I had it all to do over again.
Be aware that 14.1 will be doing a LOT of background processing and shuffling things around in the first few hours after installing that can appear as initial glitches, but they go away when the install finally settles down. I installed 14.1 at the end of the day, and it took until the next morning to fully settle. 14.2 settled a lot quicker.
Make intentional errors — Otherwise the Great Spirit realizes you have fulfilled your purpose on earth.
Interesting observation, joemikeb. I hadn't noticed these kinds of behaviours with previous iterations . . . not from Ventura or its predecessors.
Question: If 14.2 is available, I wonder why wouldn't APPLE send me that latest update version to install? My computer tells me that 14.1 is THE latest version.
