Until recently I didn't get that mNY spam emails and those that I did get I was able to block or write a rule to send them straight to the trash. Recently I've started getting a lot of spam email where I am not only the recipient but I am also listed as the sender. If I hit reply it comes up with my name and email as the recipient and sender. I've looked at the 'raw source' and 'return path' to see if I can determine the actual sender but have had no luck.

Is this type of spam something new? Is there a way to find out who is actually sending this stuff?

Thanks in advance.

If you post the raw source, someone may be able to make some sense out of it that you're missing.

Assuming you are using Apple Mail…
  1. Select one of the messages
  2. Press ⇧⌘H to display all the header information
  3. Click on the full header
  4. Press ⌘A to copy All
  5. Open here or here
  6. In the submit box on either site press ⌘V to paste the header the blank
  7. Press Submit
  8. Read the analysis

Either of these will yield a thorough analysis of the header.

Thank you, that gave me the owner of the IP address and ISP. I have contacted the ISP.
