Boy, I just can't walk away from my ipad for nano second without it locking me out.

Apple keeps changing this features name and location so much, just spent 6 minutes tyr to find it again. Any clues? thanks.

The model/year of your iPad could determine where it is, but check out Settings>Display & Brightness>Auto-Lock. That's where I see it.

On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

Thanks Ira, yes there thanks. Don't know why so non intuitive for me. I have 15 min ipad, 5 min iphone,

Print works well Iphone, maybe don't have it set up well ipad, bothersome so will set that up.

ipad just home, still if was stolen.. I you'd not recommend doing never.. so 15 min max?

Just noticed in passcode, said require immediately. So maybe that overides my 15 min setting?

Require passcode says immmediate, I cannot get it to uncheck, any ideas? That's killer the check wont uncheck. on ipad

Same on iphone, but iphone respects 5 min set there, whereas ipad does require immediately. Lost

ok think ok.. acually. require immediately is confusing though.

I'm not sure about "Require Passcode Immediately". Mine is checked for "Immediately" but my screen lock is set for a time and that time holds; it is not overridden by "Immediately". It may refer to when the passcode is required to unlock the iDevice.

Hmm, that might make sense. For example, screen goes to sleep and is dark after 15 minutes. When do you need to enter the passcode to unlock it? "Immediately" is just that—once the screen goes black you need the passcode, immediately. If instead of "Immediately" you had checked "5 Minutes", any time in the first 5 minutes after going dark you could just wake up your iDevice without the passcode. After 5 minutes you need the passcode.

So the Auto-Lock setting determines when, after a set time of inactivity, the screen will go dark. The "Require Passcode" determines how much time you have after dark to unlock the iDevice without the passcode. I have not tested this by changing various times in the two settings, but it seems reasonable. wink
