Where does Snow Leopard store user 'learned' words? In Leopard 'learned' words were saved in the ~/Library/Spelling 'en' file. I could access and modify them by opening the file or with Dictionary Cleaner.

I moved the 'en' file over to my new Snow Leopard computer but now it's empty and yet my system still knows all the words that I 'learned'. There is a Snow Leopard file in the same folder, Local Dictionary, but learned words are not saved there as I've tested some 'learned' words and the file is still empty.

Problem fixed. Needed to sign in and out because the User spelling library was being cached so couldn't really see what was going on.

for future reference, it's easy to find what files get changed when, if you want to use terminal.

Open a term window and use touch to make a new file, call it x. doesn't matter.

wait a few sec, then do whatever you do that is going to change a file somewhere in your home.

Then in terminal, use "find -cm x ~" to find every file in your home that was created or modified after the file you just created.

Very useful for finding files that apps try to hide. Also finds hidden files.
