I tried to send a message to a business that required a Captcha box be clicked. When clicked I got the rolling blue circle which seemed that it never wanted to end. Then I used my iPad to go the same site and the Captcha worked just fine.

The first thing to try is to restart and see if it happens again. Restarting can solve a lot of problems. That said, I had a similar problem in Mojave with Safari (the captcha screen went blank). I filed a bug report in my Developer account with Apple. They were very prompt in replying and asked for several more pieces of information. The next update to Safari fixed it. I don't know if this applies anymore, but you could try it. Another tack is to phone Tech Support at 800-275-2273. I have found them to be very helpful.

But not in this case....same result, blue circle over and over.

I'll give that a try. Thanks for the number...I'll also save it in my organizer for future reference.

Ever solve your problem, ryck?

I recently found out that I"ve got it too.

At first I thought it was NYC 311, which wouldn't have surprised me, but it works in Firefox.

I haven't seen this issue since Mojave. Have you emptied the Safari cache? Disabled extensions to see if one of them is the cause?

Not ignoring you, Jon. Your suggestion is appreciated but will have to go untested 'til the next jerk parks outside my window and blocks emergency access to half of my building.

Not yet. Where it had occurred at a particular site, I recently had it happen at another although, at the new site, it was different.

At the first site, the Captcha simply did not work. At the recent site the Captcha worked once but, when I tried to go in a second time, it did not. However, at the second site when I shutdown Safari (V 14.0) and rebooted it, the second site Captcha did work. Note: The second site was a government site for voter registration and perhaps the site was being cautious. The first attempt was my registration, the second my wife's.

Jon provided an Apple number to try but, with my slowness issue (computer, not me) and pressing matters related to my Pensioners coalition, the Captcha problem had to get to the back of the line, so I have not yet called.

Have you tried disabling extensions, content blockers in particular, I'd think, as per Jon?

My first experience was with NYC 311, and now PayPal is asking me to complete a Captcha, and I'm again seeing the same endlessly spinning blue circle both with content blockers and all extensions disabled.

No problem with either site with Firefox.

Giant PIA! frown

It may be time to file a bug report with Apple. You can also try Tech Support at ‭(800) 275-2273. The few times that I have phoned TS, the results have been excellent.

I should have mentioned that I've filed feedback. I don't think an actual bug report wouldn't be appropriate in this instance.

Nor do I don't think tech support will be able to contribute anything any more useful than what you've already contributed, so I won't bother with them.

I have installed the recent "macOS Mojave Supplemental Update, Safari 14 with bug fixes" and tried again at the site where the Captcha was reliably not functioning. It now works.
