Jeez, it's starting to look like I'm the only one here to drive the folks out the door.....1st Judith, then Deniro, now Grelber! I'm gonna have to think on this for a bit and see how I might do better next time. Artie, do you think you could counsel me to be a bit less confrontational?

Well, I guess my best suggestion is that you never respond to ambiguously sarcastic loaded questions. wink

And since I've never been noted for heeding good advice, especially my own, I also suggest that you steer clear after I've posted a setup post, as in the cases of Judith and grelber. I wasn't at all involved in deniro's departure, though, but I probably would have been had I reacted to his bizarre behavior by suggesting that he resume taking his Thorazine (which, incidentally, remains my suggestion to him).

I have information from a highly reliable source, who is in a position to know, states are having to disguise (ie, smuggle in) shipments of medical supplies they have obtained in order to prevent their being confiscated by the federal government. In the meantime Trump rails at governors for not doing enough to obtain those supplies on their own, and no one seems to know where the confiscated supplies are going other than being stockpiled in a warehouse somewhere.

Can anyone explain to me why this is not treasonable behavior on the part of the administration?

California has announced that they have a very large (millions) order of masks coming in, but they will not reveal the details until after the shipment has arrived in hand. Some members of the California legislature (who would normally oversee this sort of thing) have asked that it be revealed in a closed committee session, but so far no go.

They are smart enough to keep quiet hoping they might get at least SOME support from D.C. If they criticize Trump or his administration any help they might get will either be delayed for years, diverted to safely Republican states, or simply evaporate (ie. like the bulk of the first small business bailout be sucked up by Trump supporting big businesses before it gets to the states). In other words they are playing politics, which in this case is the smartest option.

On the weekend one of the networks published some horrifying numbers comparing the U.S. response to COVID with the South Korean response.

As of March 5, 2020 the deaths from COVID were:

S. Korea 35 - United States 11

As of May 25, 2020 the deaths from COVID were:

S. Korea 267 - United States 98,034

Does anyone need more reason than that to turf Trump in November?

If so, keep in mind that this past weekend, while the U.S. figure was approaching 100,000, Trump thought it best to go golfing.

I often wish I had coherent responses to some of the issues raised by people who wish we had done what Sweden did and never required sheltering at home (at least for some States). I finally found one that seems objective and makes sense. It was published in the Orange County Register in California. For those not familiar with California politics, Orange County was/is an overall wealthy Republican stronghold, although that seems to be changing somewhat based on the 2018 election results.

My take on the article is that we could have done what Sweden did if we had faith in and consistency from our leadership, universal health care, paid sick leaves for everyone and universal COVID-19 testing. And in the end, social distancing is everything (I would add hand washing, too smirk )

The moron doesn't fall far from the family tree. As the U.S. covid deaths were hitting 100,000, Eric Trump tweeted Great day for the DOW! The vulgarity is overwhelming.

This will be interesting, because the 1st applies only when you're speaking on your own dime.

Ask Don Imus or Colin Kaepernick.

And the consensus I've seen is that this is no more than a political show thats not likely to have any impact.

This must be a new height (or depth, depending on how you see it) of chutzpah: White House likens Trump to Churchill in WW2 Actually, it's more of a non-sequitur.

As laughable (piteous?) it is for anyone to compare President Bonespur to Churchill, there was at least a laughable moment, which is when the press secretary expresses how important a symbol it was for Chloroxman to be holding up the Bible. I guess she and the other White House wackos didn't notice that he was holding it upside down.

And digging with a giant shovel......

TV video last week shows, quite clearly, police officers in Buffalo shoving a 75 year old man who stumbles backward and falls, cracking his head on the concrete. Blood starts flowing from his ear and the police continue walking. The man is taken to the hospital in critical condition and has only now been released from the ICU, although he remains hospitalized.

This morning Trump, in support of the police, tweeted a theory that it was a setup. . The first words from one television commentator were: "The President is deranged". Hard to argue with that.
