Can anybody explain why the follow-up notes are on White House letterhead but the mailing was paid for by IRS?

But why is it on White House letterhead when it's "a record of a deposit from the Treasury Department?"

Because Trump wants people to think it's from him. A while back, he held up the processing of checks because he wanted them to have his name printed on them. It was a pathetic attempt to garner votes and an egregious action by a very sick man.

That's obvious, but what about separation of powers or whatever?

A letter from the White House should be paid for BY the White House!

The letter with the White House letterhead is a campaign flyer for Trump paid for by the U. S. taxpayers. What more needs to be said?

Trump reportedly has $billions in his campaign fund and when he leaves office he gets to keep the entire campaign fund and do with as he pleases. Essentially a tax free gift from his supporters. Any way he can get his name in front of the voters without spending anything from his campaign fund is cash in his pocket. His hotels are going broke and he has state tax authorities nipping at his heels waiting for him to leave office so they can bring suit with a good chance of winning.

The Treasury Department is part of the Executive Branch. Really, the same idea as a company making an announcement about their products signed by their CEO rather than the product manager.

Didn't know that; I should have realized it. Thanks.
