Recently I found a largish black beetle working its way across the front lawn and, being a "let nature be" type, I simply lifted it and put it into the flower garden where it wouldn't get stepped on. Later I was with a friend, who often walks her dog along with Abby and me through the local forests, and we saw the same beetle on one of the trails. She has a very nifty app, which I think is this one. and, with her iPhone immediately identified it with pictures and descriptions.

Very nifty. If I had a Smart Phone, I'd definitely have this app.

Disclosure: I have no connection with iNaturalist other than to be glad my friend has it.
