Mac mini pre-configured with Snow Leopard Server.

4GB RAM, dual 500 GB drives, no builtin optical drive, unlimited OS X Server - $999

Nice home/small workgroup server, if you ask me. smile

Optional external RAID

I just read of a company, Smalldog Electronics, that is already considering replacing their XServe server(s?) with these minis custom configured with SSDs rather than the standard mechanical drives. They estimate the reduction in power consumption and HVAC costs alone will pay for the new MacMini in about a year. Sweet!

Apple just may have a really hot commodity on their hands with this little gem.

I went to the local Apple Store this morning trying to get my hands on one a "Magic Mouse" but they are not shipping to the stores yet. The online store is claiming 5 to 7 day free shipping. That little jewel may redefine the computer mouse if it performs as advertised.

You realize the Magic Mouse is only compatible with the new iMacs that ship with them, right?

Agreed, the new Mini server is a nice little deal, but I would have liked to see an HDMI port for a great home media server. Not sure why Apple keeps purposely avoiding what should be their obvious position as rulers of the media center PC universe. Oh well.

That software update isn't out yet. It is not yet compatible with any other Mac according to all reports.
