I am using a Canon PIXMA610 with the single problem of scanning a document and I am running 10.14.3.... I wonder if you might benefit from a visit to VueScan. It's worth a try if it might restore your scanning function.

I suggest that you upgrade a clone of High Sierra to Mojave and see what happens. I upgraded my Super Duper backup to Mojave and neither the printer nor the scanner worked. The Canon software kept returning the caution "Printer is not attached" and my MP Navigator EX scanner software didn't even load its windows. Oh well. Just occurred to me... Was that with the CUPS driver? And if not, you ought to try it.

Could have been Minnie Driver, for all I know. It's too late to try anything new as I've already restored my Super Duper backup...just felt odd not to have my backup.

Just for future reference, if needed, the CUPS driver is the 10.13 compatible item here. I think it's the latest one for your Pixma...released simultaneously with High Sierra, but it didn't run in MY Mojave...version error, so I guess it's a dead end.
