Help. Safari will not load. I get the title page but no Safari. Everything else on the internet works. Mail, Google, YouTube, etc. Am using Leopard 15" Macbook Pro 1 year old. My desktop iMac loads just fine. Was playing with Safari prefs. yesterday on the book. Hmmmmm? Don't remember what I may have changed.

thank you Jeannie Tanny

Playing with Safari preferences? That could be a clue.

With Safari quit, go to Users/you/Library/Preferences and move com.apple.Safari.plist to the desktop. Launch Safari. If the problem is solved, reset your Safari preferences and trash the plist. If not, put it back.

If the above doesn't work, quit Safari and go to Users/you/Library/Caches and move com.apple.Safari to the desktop. Launch Safari and proceed as above.

If anything in my post is not clear, post back and I'll walk you through it.

By that do you mean the safari window will open but it won't display any web pages? or it's not opening to your home page on launch? or safari itself won't launch (and stay running)? What happens when you type in a url?

Hmm...com.apple.Safari? There's no such animal in my ~/Library; perhaps you meant something else?

Oops! My bad. I meant ~/Library/Caches. I edited my post to correct that. Thanks for the heads up, dk.

Hello.. Thanks for the reply. I "think" I tried this and it is now working fine. But then again I tried a couple of other goodies and got it working. I am somewhat new to Macs (6 years).. Am a 65 year old little old lady... and was told try just about anything with one these computers because you really can't hurt them. I don't touch the terminal. Thanks again. I love my Mac (I have 3)

Jenny,

I'm happy that things seem to have been sorted out for you. If something else goes awry or if you have any other questions, please post back and one of us will probably be able to help.

I am a 64-year-old little old man with one Mac and I hope to become a 65-year-old little old man (and even older). grin

That needs to be addressed, Jeannie, because you can do yourself a major amount of damage...necessitate an erase and install and/or lose important data, at worst, by messin' where you shouldn't ought to be messin'.

Keep this in mind as Rule#1: Never delete ANYTHING unless you know PRECISELY what you are deleting!

And this as Rule #2: Never enter your Admin password unless you are 100% aware of who/what is asking you for it and that se/it should be given the opportunity to run amok in your Mac (as can happen if you're not careful)!

Please bear in mind that I'm not trying to frighten you...just to put some brakes on your cavalier attitude.

Macs are great, and they do work, but their users don't always work as well as they do. grin

Keep on loving your Macs; they deserve all the love we can give them.

Dear artie505... And thank you for your advice. I did learn the first week I owned my Mac to not delete my Library folder from anywhere in my Mac.
AppleCare helped me get it back with my install CD. I learned that lessen well. Thanks again

Jeannie T.
