I have an external USB LG optical drive that I'm trying to use to burn an audio CD.

As soon as I insert the blank CD (Sony CD-R Audio 80) it is ejected with the message "The operation can't be completed because you don't have the necessary permissions."

The drive shows up in the left column of Disk Utility. But at the bottom next to burn support is "Unsupported."

The drive shows up in System Profiler under Hardware>Disc Burning. Under Burn Support on the right side of the screen it says "Yes (Generic Drive Support)".

I found this and it worked.

1) Open Terminal window.
2) Run this command: defaults write com.apple.finder ProhibitBurn false
3) Restart the Finder by running this command: killall Finder
