According to this MacRunors article the EU is proposing to ban security backdoors and require end to end encryption of internet and email traffic. IMO the U. S. should follow suit, but that is unlikely in the current political climate in Washington.

This could get interesting.

I thought I just read somewhere over in Europe they were considering legislation to ban encryption that didn't have a government back door?

Apparently wiser heads got involved after Brexit and writing off cooperation with the U.S.
