My daughter has been experiencing a reasonably serious problem with her iPhone 5S. I suggested her best bet was to join FTM and that she'd get good ideas/suggestions/help. She has tried twice to join; has twice been told she'd get a confirmation email; and twice the email has not arrived.

Ideas?

Tell her to check her junk/trash folder.

I can see her two accounts in the Registration Queue, both awaiting the confirmation step. I re-sent the verification email to the first one yesterday (my just-in-case standard practice) and re-sent emails to both just before posting this, so a total of five have gone out to her.

She only needs to use the link on one of the emails to complete the confirmation process for an account.

If she doesn't find any of them I can manually approve one of the accounts for her, just let me know. Future emails from FTM will likely end up with the missing verifications so subscribing to threads might not work well for her but that could be dealt with after.

PS - I'm moving this thread to the "FineTunedMac Feedback" forum.

My daughter advises: "Ya I already checked my junk folders, nothing there. Checked again this morning, still nothing."

Did she check the junk folders on her ISP's server as well as on her Mac?

I sent an email with this question....

"How does junk arrive? i.e. does your ISP mark it as junk and allow it to go through, or do they keep it on their servers?"

and got this reply....

"I don't know but my hotmail accounts have junk folders that usually filter out some junk.  But I've never had an issue with appropriate emails ending up there."

Might it be possible that your daughter had a typo when she entered her Hotmail address? If so, nothing would reach her from FTM, nor would FTM be advised that the email was not delivered. Just a thought.

I went ahead and manually approved the first account she registered, so she should be able to log in with that one now.

In addition to the junk folder on my MBP I've got one on Verizon's server as well.

Stuff that Verizon heads off at the pass winds up in the latter folder, and what gets past their filters winds up in the former one.

You log into your e-mail provider's web site via a browser instead of with an e-mail application like Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc.

For example, if my e-mail address is myname@att.net, I would go to www.att.net where I would see some menu option or icon for e-mail. Click on that, log in and the junk/spam folder on the page that follows is what is being referenced in this discussion.

On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

Thanks, Ira. I thought that's how one does it but Artie mentioned an ISP server, not the email provider website so I was confused.

Yeah, that made no sense! LOL! But, I didn't know spam could get caught on a server and not get to my email app. So, I would never have thought to go back to my email's website to check for spam in case I didn't get an email I was expecting.

Sorry, about that, but it made perfect sense to me, because my ISP is my email provider, and I forget that there are other options. grin

Your email provider is your first line of defense against spam, so the first place to look for missing emails is your junk mail folder on your provider's website. (Think about all those emails you get that advise you to whitelist the sender so they'll get to you.)

Right. Whitelist. I didn't think about that. I do have people who say they emailed me but I didn't get it. Next time I will check both spams. Thanks for the heads up.
