And now Nunes' choice to bypass his panel colleagues and inform the White House about surveillance of the Trump team, though his public statement, is blowing up in his face. His very partisan move demonstrates clearly why there needs to be an independent probe.

As Congressman Adam Schiff of California said, Nunes was acting as a "surrogate of the White House."

"Incidental collection" is a spook term for when you're tapping someone (say, Cletus T. Crimeboss or Igor Z. Spy) and you collect information from someone who calls the person you're tapping.

So what that means is they weren't tapping Trump; they were tapping a Russian, and Trump called the Russian they were tapping.

Hahaha…and I guess someone should remind Sessions that Hawaii isn't an island in the Pacific. It's a whole bunch of them.

I liked the comment of one responder who said the Trump group should be reminded that New Mexico is also a state….lest they put the wall in the wrong place.

It seems Mr. Sessions isn't the only one to have little knowledge about the U.S. President Trump has suggested that Andrew Jackson could have prevented the American Civil War…that it (the war) could have been "worked out".

Hmmmm. Setting aside the fact that he was an unapologetic slave owner, Jackson died 16 years before the Civil War began. I wonder why Trump thinks he has to keep proving he's an ignorant dolt….everybody (except perhaps his base) gets it.

It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations.
They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away."
How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction! ...

There are plenty of people in this country that are of sound mind and have no checkered past who could run for president — but in the current political climate in Washington no one of sound mind would want to run for president.

And evidence that Trump is incapable of the thinking required to form his own opinions. He never has a "thought" that isn't always perfectly aligned with the view of the last person who talked to him.

I forget who said it nor can I quote them exactly, but it went something like...

"Any man capable of getting themselves elected president is unfit for the position"

(I thought it might have been a Mark Twain?)

That does seem to be the general trend for major political offices as of late. "Nice guys always finish last" seems to ring the truest in political races.

Perhaps I spoke too quickly....it seems that Trump's base may finally be realizing that they've been taken by another carnival barker. .

And, for those still unconvinced, I'm pretty sure Trump's budget and healthcare visions should help them see the light - with his philosophy of get more for the very rich (tax breaks) on the backs of the poor (loss of food stamps and healthcare coverage).

I thought the most humorous moment, in Trump's overseas tour last week, would be his lecturing the other NATO countries on the importance of paying one's debts.

I figured for sure that the irony of such castigations, coming from a guy who has stiffed employees and small business people, as well as repeatedly using bankruptcy laws to bypass financial obligations, would be the laugh of the week.

But I was wrong. There was that incident with the Pope. laugh

After that incident, I am waiting for the next Trumpal Bull (a.k.a. Tweet) banning anyone from "Catholic" nations from entering the country. Come to think of it, rather than blaming the messenger perhaps that should be a Twit instead of a {I]Tweet[/I].

I'm surprised that some entrepreneur hasn't yet come out with a hacky sack with No 45's visage on it. Even the old and decrepit could get behind that implication and get some salutary exercise to boot. smirk

Happy D-Day + 73 !

Watching Trump is like watching a limbo competition, where the participant is trying to see how low he can go.

Five months into No 45's reign/rain life in them there United States and especially in DC is looking more and more like Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-glass perversely conjoined with George Orwell's 1984, L. Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz and assorted other dystopian adventures.
To quote the meister: Sad. crazy frown

Following the Comey testimony we learned that Trump's lawyer is Marc Kasowitz, who has been employed by Trump for many years on various things but has little experience in criminal defense matters.

So, you ask, why wouldn't Trump get a lawyer who knows the ins and outs of the issues facing him? Michael Isikioff of Yahoo News reported that four top D.C. lawyers had refused to handle Trump’s defense - essentially because Trump is both a know-it-all and a piker likely to stiff them on the bill.

According to Yahoo: “The concerns were, ‘The guy won’t pay and he won’t listen,’” said one lawyer close to the White House who is familiar with some of the discussions between the firms and the administration, as well as deliberations within the firms themselves.

Is it Karma when your lifelong habit of skipping out on bills means you get an attorney ill-prepared for the task?

Meanwhile, across town Robert Mueller is assembling the strongest legal team possible, including top criminal law expert Michael Dreeben.
