Actually, Lion was available on "DVD", but the DVD was a thumb drive.

As I said, though, "...Lion is the earliest version of OS X...with IR capability" (although it doesn't seem like it would have been much of a big deal for Apple to throw Snowy onto the server).

maybe a little OT, but I remember trying to get IRDA working with my black powerbook. It worked on OS 9. All I managed to accomplish was to turn on the green light that almost nobody knew existed on the old HP printers with the mysterious black curvy window on the front. (never did manage to print anything)
