Does anyone know how the CLOCK / DATE can be hidden from view (turned OFF) on the lock screen on the iPad Pro?

After poking around various settings I would have to say that you can not. Anyone else? crazy

What are you trying to accomplish? A totally dark screen or…?

The same thing occurs with a desktop computer (eg, iMac) on the equivalent of a lock screen:
The otherwise totally dark screen always has clock/date, faint to be sure, floating in the upper right.
(At least it tells one that the device is alive.)

Pressing the Sleep/Wake button will put any iOS device to sleep and blank the screen.

My wish is to have the wallpaper be available on the Lock Screen at startup . . . without a clock or date visible. Personal preference, really. I do not need to see the time and date in humongous font every time the Lock Screen is viewed. I would rather just see the wallpaper of choice and the "slide to open" button.

That's what I thought. Not going to happen as far as I know.

Obviously you haven't upgraded to iOS 10 yet. The "Slide To Open" bar/button has been replaced by a small notice at the bottom of the screen reading "Press Home To Unlock". 😜 There have been complaints but I find it faster and more intuitive than the "slide to open".

True, but the upgrade still won't get the type of screen that is desired.

Interesting about iOS 10.

Just received a brand new iPAD PRO this past week directly from Apple (online). It has the "slide to open" bar.

FYI (for anyone who may be interested) :

Sure enough the new IPAD PRO did not come installed with iOS 10, but has Version 9.3.4 pre-installed. It was ordered (and received) less than two weeks ago, but was shipped without the latest iOS 10. Not a big deal, but just thought some folks might like to know if they order from the Apple online store. (The software update tab in Settings/General says that 10.1 is ready to download and install.)

SO MANY youg-uns don't have a watch, they just check the time on their phones. So it's not even slightly surprising that they're displaying the clock in large print by default on the lock screen.

but your question... appears to require jailbreak. In the past there's been ways to "hide" a stock app, and the app you needed to hide was Clock. If you hid that, it wouldn't show the clock on the lock screen, until you rebooted your phone. Clock would reappear on one of your pages, and you'd have to hide it again. But the hiding tricks for non jailbroken phones don't seem to work for me. (probably "bugs" that got "fixed")

Under iOS 10 you can "remove" stock Apple apps, like "Clock". You "delete" them just like you would any other app--hold down on the icon to get jiggly mode and the little "x" to remove it.

I used quotes above because Apple says they can still be downloaded from the App Store. Also, this Suppport document indicates Clock is not a removable app.

Finally, hiding or removing the app still may not remove the time from the lock screen; timing is integral to many functions so it could be internal to the device rather than the app.

Removing the app in iOS 10 does not necessarily remove the functionality from the system, often it is just the UI front end. As you said, for an app like Clock, the functionality is used over and over again throughout iOS itself, other iOS apps, and third party apps.

" . . . rebooted your phone . . . "

----------------------------

A point of clarification: My inquiry was about the iPAD, not the iPHONE.

P.S. When I hold the Home button to get the "jiggly apps", the CLOCK app does not have the delete "X" available. It is there to stay. :0)

i.e. iPAD 2 and Version iOS 9.3.4

Edit Reason: added CLOCK app

Should be same difference, iPhone or iPad. Also, the ability to remove Apple apps may exist starting with iOS 10. However, I am running iOS 10 and you are correct, even in jiggly mode the Clock app does not have the "x". It is there to stay!

P.S. iOS 10 is not supported for iPAD, 2 but is for iPAD Pro - which are the two iPADS to which I have access.
