I just heard that Trump has said he will release his income tax statements after Hillary releases "all 90,000 deleted emails". How exactly do you release something that's been deleted? Sounds like he wants to offer a cookie with no intention of delivering.

For sure. It's most likely Trump doesn't want the average taxpayer to find out that he's one of those rich people who Warren Buffett derided for having a lower tax rate than their secretaries.

On the other hand, according to Time Magazine: "In 2015, Clinton paid a federal tax rate of 34.2% and a New York state rate of 9% for a total effective tax rate of 43.2%. Her tax rate has been above 40% every year since she left the state department in 2013."

…which generates another question for Trump: "So, Donald, what's the real reason you won't divulge your tax returns?"

He's just playing his usual "it's Hillary's fault" game, which appeals only to the people who've been in his pocket from jump street and offers nothing to anybody else, and who knows...his recalcitrance and the resultant conjecture may ultimately hurt him more than whatever his tax returns might reveal, because he's leaving himself wide open to attack during the debates.

Other than mainstream reputable news sources (which do not include Fox), the only interpretive "news" show worth watching is The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on Comedy Central. It could keep you on the straight (or strait) and narrow.
It's all humbug. Bah. (Or baa.)

Artie505, the website you referenced is down. Server overload?

So, Hillary Clinton has "Pneumonia" but I think it's only fair to assume that someone her age shaking so many hands was vaccinated against everything. She got faint from the heat (It was 78 degrees.) Hmmm, I recall a few years back when she was Secretary of State she was unable to do her job any longer. The explanation was that she "hit her head." Tim Caine has openly stated he doesn't want to be President so she picked him to run for Vice President (huh?). And her husband repealed Glass-Steagyl, leading to the financial crisis.

The Donald. In addition to everything already discussed, now it's announced that his charity paid the Florida Attorney General to drop charges against Trump University. (The charity also paid $20,000 for a six foot portrait of him.)

Pretty grim.

Note: Neither candidate is releasing financial statements for their charities so their personal tax returns are meaningless.

Either it was down but is back up now or you didn't allow it to run its course.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Financial statements for charitable organizations are public record, and what have they got to do with personal returns, anyhow?

I don't follow that at all.

In my experience, one has nothing to do with the other, so what undeclared income?

I think there are ways to achieve personal monetary rewards from running a charity. Maybe, just maybe now, they don't declare the income because it is indirect. I think all the ferver about Trump may be blinding people to the fact that Clinton is a deeply flawed candidate as well, Edit: just in more subtle ways.

The only outcome I'm hoping for is the Party takes Hillary out of the running. Her numbers are dropping precipitously with what now seem to be real health concerns. Maybe there is still a chance for Bernie Sanders.

Edit: I guess I didn't mean releasing financial records but the mere fact that someone is administering a charity makes their true income harder to know.

Those who run charities are under close scrutiny by both IRS and watchdogs, income is income and is reportable, and under-the-table money is fraud, so I dunno.

I don't think anybody has forgotten that Hillary is a deeply flawed candidate; after all, she's the 2nd most hated presidential candidate in history. She's just had the incredibly good fortune to be running against a #1 who is even more hated, far more deeply flawed...and dangerous, to boot.

Trump doesn't like America and wants to change it in dictatorial fashion! (NEVER forget Harv's sig: Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. ~Voltaire)

I'm not familiar with the processes that might be invoked to remove Hillary from the race nor do think it's likely to happen unless she does it herself, in which case I think the nod would go to Caine, but considering the fight she had to put up just to get past Bernie in the first place, I think her health and resilience are pretty good; Trump laughed his way to the convention.

I think Hillary's problem (and I've emailed her campaign) is that her restrained, "professional" (for lack of a better word) campaign is failing to get her message to the considerable portion of the electorate that watches reality shows and reads the National Inquirer (if they read anything at all).

Trump's "message" is chipping into Hillary's vulnerable support layer while hers isn't even reaching his.

Either she or some PAC needs to begin doing some serious sniping and outright ridiculing...real fast! (Think back to Stevenson - Eisenhower and the "too intellectual" knock on Adlai.)

And once again the Republicans' chief bozo makes an off-handed comment that incites violence against Hillary Clinton.

This morning I watched a Trump surrogate suggest that "he was joking". Some joke.

Shortly after the election, President Trump is in a rare contemplative mood. He takes a walk in the Mall in the capital.

As he passes the Washington Monument, he senses the presence of George Washington. He says, "Mr. Washington, please tell me what to do." Washington replies, "Abolish the IRS."

Trump then walks by the Jefferson Memorial. He senses the presence of Thomas Jefferson and asks, "What should I do?" Jefferson replies, "Abolish Social Security and Medicare."

Continuing his sojourn, he passes the Lincoln Memorial and senses the presence of Abraham Lincoln. Again he asks, "What should I do?" Lincoln replies, "Take the evening off. Go to the theater."

Careful. There was justifiable outrage when Trump encouraged his Second Amendment (gun rights) supporters to do something to Clinton because of her possible future appointments to the Supreme Court. Don't make the same mistake here. smirk

I don't believe the Houston Chronicle has supported a Democratic candidate for President since reconstruction and they have come out in favor of Hillary Clinton. The Dallas Morning Snooze News isn't quite as pro-Republican as their neighbor to the South, Houston, but in the reddest of red states they too have endorsed Hillary.

In spite of that, a lot of my progressive friends, who are convinced that Hillary will lose big in Texas, are planning to vote for
Click to reveal..
Gary Johnson and William Weld.
These progressive voters in no way support their party's platform, but cannot bring themselves to vote for either Hillary or "The Donald" but like the them as individuals.

Could they bring themselves to vote for Hillary if the Texas race gets really tight as it threatens to maybe do? (This is hardly the year in which to allow a protest vote to get in the way of reality.)
