How do I quote from a source that is outside the confines of the FTM? For an example, check Artie's latest post (from a newspaper column) in the "Our next president ?!!" thread.
Just a thought…..could this be a topic for our FAQs?

I use the URL of the page I'm quoting as the source, i.e. I edit the URL to show only what I want to show, i.e. Trump is right: The greatest...nd Mail was changed to what appears in my post. (You'll have to open this post with the "Quote" button to see what I mean.)

Okay, running a test……
[Quote: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/trump-is-right-the-greatest-us-threat-is-indeed-from-within-its-him/article31427516/?utm_medium=Newsletter&utm_source=Morning%20News%20Update&utm_type=text&utm_content=MorningNewsUpdate&utm_campaign=137056427][/According to Mr. Trump’s speech, the great enemy of the U.S. is “immigrants or the children of immigrants,†whom he claims are “the common thread linking the major Islamic terrorist attacks that have recently occurred on our soil.†This is a remarkable claim for a candidate who is both the son, husband and ex-husband of immigrants.]
Nope…that's not it. What am I missing?

I've been unsuccessfully trying to do a comparative post, but I can't work out the details. Here's the correct way to do it... According to Mr. Trump’s speech, the great enemy of the U.S. is “immigrants or the children of immigrants,†whom he claims are “the common thread linking the major Islamic terrorist attacks that have recently occurred on our soil.†This is a remarkable claim for a candidate who is both the son, husband and ex-husband of immigrants

Okally dokally….another try, coming up….. ] Mr. Trump presents the U.S. as a nation under attack far more from within than from the outside. This is true, but not in the way he intended. A lying, bigoted zealot with executive power poses a far greater threat to U.S. stability than any Muslim who comes to the U.S. in search of a better life.
Closer…but no cigar. I did attempt that edit within the URL but could not do anything without the entire URL being highlighted and then gone when I tried to edit.

I've had more trouble writing this post than any other I've ever written; I keep trying to post text, but the the software won't allow me to do it, so... Your "end URL]]" needs to be preceded by "]Trump is right: The greatest U.S. threat is indeed from within. (It’s him) - The Globe and Mail" [sic] (No quotes) What you did is you edited out the title of the article, so the raw URL came up instead. The "color" tags are unnecessary.

Once more, with feeling…. Mr. Trump presents the U.S. as a nation under attack far more from within than from the outside. This is true, but not in the way he intended. I also dropped the second
at the end. It appears we have lift-off. Thanks.

Whew!
I kept trying to write a comparative post, but every time I typed
the software picked up on it and changed everything that preceded it; if I hadn't thought of "end URL" I'd still be tearing my hair out. (Actually, /URL]] would have worked as long as the leading [ was missing.)
Lesson learned for both of us!
