This MacBook Pro flies beneath the radar - In the words of The Boss, "To see [it] you gotta look hard." - but at $1099 it's a pretty good value as can be seen
here.
But... Apple has been selling refurbs (including one year of AppleCare and eligible for two more) for
$829, and if you upgrade one from 4GB RAM to 8 GB and from a 500 GB HDD to a 240 GB SSD for a total of $120 from Crucial you wind up with a whole hell of a lot of MBP for
$950 (with a 500 GB HDD to spare). (I buy from Crucial, but it's likely that the upgrades can be bought elsewhere for less than $120.)
I ran across this while helping my daughter shop for a new Mac, and this one is perfect for her, as it may be for many others.
