MacNN has recently published two columns on Security best practices. Part 1 published last Monday covers keeping your identity and files safe and avoiding obvious scams. Part 2 posted Wednesday goes into some more detail and throws in some thoughts when others have physical access to your Mac. Nothing earth shattering or even particularly new for regular FineTunedMac aficionados, but perhaps worth reading and discussing?

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Definitely worth reading. Note that it's a series of 3 articles, the last coming tomorrow [June 10].

EDIT: Pointers Special: Security Best Practices – Part 3

The "problem" is that almost everyone who frequents these forums are at least moderately savvy with respect to security. Those who most need tutoring are oblivious to the need until they get hacked/scammed/defrauded.

And even though the articles are directed at a Mac user audience, the general principles apply equally to PC users.

In all these cases it might not be a bad idea for forum users to pass on the URLs of the 3 articles to those who can best profit from same.
