My Android phone wants DLNA turned on in my router to transfer my music. Can't find any setting in the router for DLNA.
Linksys WRT1900AC Router LG Vista 2 phone (Love this phone, recommend it)

DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) is an industry consortium standard that's the rest of the computer industry's answer to Apple AirPlay. It has to be part of the spec of whatever devices you own; if you have a device that isn't DLNA-compliant, you can't add DLNA capability to it. Your router might not be DLNA capable. It appears that your router is DLNA capable, at least for hard drives connected to the router's USB port, but Linksys's firmware is buggy and the support for DLNA is poor. https://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/wrt1900ac-DLNA-server-help/td-p/951540

Yeah......my experience with the Linksys 1900AC was less than favorable.
I bought two on sale at Fry's Electronics at a very good price.....ran firmware updates, installed third party firmware, fought with flakey performance through lots of testing and adjusting, then eventually returned both for refunds as defective.
Couldn't keep the transmitter from dropping off line intermittently when under heavy traffic conditions.

Yeah, I tried regressing as well.....same flakey performance under load.
I REALLY wanted them to work out, but after many hours of testing and evaluating, I had to give it up.

Alrighty then. Kinda disappointing but thanks for saving me a lot of time and effort. I have a different program to try.

So, I used a program called DoubleTwist. It worked great. And yes, I am creating some headaches for myself by mixing an android phone, a Linksys Router and a Mac, but the only way I learned a lttle bit about the tech side of the Mac was because things went wrong. It's a frustrating way to learn things, but hey, it works for me.

I'm probably missing the point here, but I have an application called Android File Transfer.app that I downloaded from Google Play (I think). You plug your phone into your Mac via a USB cable and the phone mounts as a hard drive. You can move music or photos back and forth easily. Any good?

Didn't work, phone didn't mount. It's an LG Vista 2, not a Galaxy. Maybe that's the problem.

I would think any Android phone should work. I have a MotoG with Android 5.1. (edit to add:) https://www.android.com/filetransfer/

Just wouldn't connect. Seemed the simplist solution. I called LG and they said the only way to connect it was through their cloud service, something called LG AirDrive. I've also tried a few printing apps but it doesn't see my printer. I have the HandyPrint app on my iPad and Mac that gets the iPad to see my printer but I can't seem to 'trick' the phone into seeing the kinda strange set-up I have, described below.
BTW, the music app called DoubleTwist that I used has a fantastic interface. Like it so much better than the default music app.
