1. I've got /Users/artie/Library set to be visible in El Cap, but is there any way to get it to display as an option in "Save" dialog panes, where it remains invisible?

2. A while back, Ira posted Terminal commands to permanently expand both the "Print" and "Save" dialog panes, but only the former works in El Cap.

Is there a command to permanently expand the "Save" pane?

Thanks.

I just discovered that by using command-shift-G with a save dialog box open (but not necessarily expanded) I can make any folder in /Users/artie/Library my destination. smile

Your solution works, but with the user Library set to be visible (from the View menu in the Home folder, not from the Desktop), the Library always remains visible in Save dialog boxes. At least that is what I see.

I dunno... Maybe it's got something to do with Yosemite v El Cap, or maybe I'm missing something.

I don't follow

To clarify Ira's point:

1. In Finder, click Go > Home.
2. At the top left of the screen, (where the Apple menu, etc. reside), click View > Show View Options.
3. In the resulting dialog box, click Show Library Folder.

That makes your home Library always available.
