I can no longer send a test "Alert" e-mail from TTP using either the same settings that have worked heretofore or any others I can conjure up.
The best I've been able to do is apparently send one that neither generates an error message nor arrives in my Verizon mailbox.
Can somebody please direct me to the appropriate settings in Mail.app's prefs?
Thanks.
(Verizon sent me new smtp and port info a year or more ago, but TTP wouldn't work with the new settings...continued to work with my old ones.)

Where in TTP are you finding the "send test alert"? I'm not seeing it, although there is a lot to go through, in TTP 8.x.
On a Mac since 1984. Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

It's in System Preferences > Tech Tool Protection > E-mail alerts

Like Jon said, Ira, but I'm still in TTP 6.x, so it may have disappeared in a later version without my knowing about it.

The email alert option is still there in TTP 8.x. You can find it under System Prefs > TechTool Protection (3rd party panes) > E-mail Alerts tab

Finally ran my problem past Micromat, and it turned out that I was using the wrong outgoing port...s/b 465 or 587...hardly intuitive.
Edit: I believe that what happened is Verizon originally used port 25 for both incoming and outgoing mail, but a year or two ago they advised me to switch my Mail pref setting to 995, which I didn't realize was exclusively incoming.
