Running Word 2008 under OS 10.5.8. I have a Word document (docx) that I need to send to an online publishing company (Amazon's CreateSpace)which must be in PDF format. Easy to do BUT I am told that the PDF file has to have the fonts embedded. Have found much contradictory advice elsewhere on the net (including Microsoft forums) re embedding fonts. I was told that if I print it in PDF/X format (an option in Word), the fonts will be embedded; otherwise, they are not in either a Word or Mac OS-generated PDF file. I do not have Acrobat Pro. What is the real story here? If I cannot do this on my mac, is there an online app/service that can do it for these versions of Word and OS X?

Printing to a PDF/X from Word should indeed embed the fonts.
