The "glitch" is simply the fact that I cannot receive emails on that one account on my iPhone. After a lot of labor, I was able to send from that account, but I cannot receive. I've spent a lot of time trying to fix it with no success. In addition, I am not able to erase messages that were already present in the account before I dropped the iPhone. It just freezes and puts an orange dot at the left of each message. The message with the latest date is the last one I sent just before I dropped the iPhone 4S.

On the other hand, that same account on my computer works just fine.

SUCCESS!

In one last desperate attempt, I went back to the passwords in Keychain Access and also paid careful attention to the warnings that were constantly popping up when I tried to send messages to the iPhone. This time, I counted the number of letters in the passwords and, to my surprise, I had entered a password with less than 8 characters. I don't know when that happened. I entered new passwords in Keychain and in my iPhone and carefully checked to make sure that they were identical. PRESTO! It worked. So...I paid careful attention to your instructions PLUS I found an error in my own work and the iPhone 4S is back working just fine! I want to thank you for your assistance and patience. It also helps for me to have a clearer head than I did following the surgery. Sorry I was such a pest during my recuperation from the hip replacement. I still have a little pain, but things continue to progress. Again, I really appreciate your help and your friendship. Warmest regards.

Please see my last post to joemikeb. Finally, things work.

Your questions also prodded me on to keep looking for the problem when I had given up. I appreciate it very much.

joemikeb:

I'm half way on the cataracts. Two days ago (Wednesday), the right eye was operated. Since then, I've had a bazillion drops of various eye medications. Yesterday, the near vision in that eye was crystal clear. Wow!

Next Wednesday, I'm scheduled for the left eye. I'm excited to have both of them done. Also, I'm getting weary of sitting in the right seat in the car. I can't wait to get back in the left seat.

Thanks for the encouragement. I was losing my enthusiasm for another surgery, but the results really are worth it.

Great! Glad it is working as advertised!

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Second surgery successful, but I'm a little groggy from the anesthetic and drops in both eyes. I'm hoping that the recovery will be swift, but I'm not declaring that it will be. Thanks for your encouragement. It helped a lot. Best regards.

Best regards. It sounds like the hip surgery was ultimately successful, wishing you the same success with the cataracts.

Both cataract operations were complete successes. I'm grateful for that. I haven't seen this clearly in years. Wow! That is a big change. Having had four coronary artery stents four plus years ago, plus the recent total hip replacement, plus the cataract surgery on both eyes, I feel like I've been a lot like a ship that was brought into dry dock for an extensive overhaul. Hopefully, that's the end of the medical issues for an indeterminate period of time which I hope is many years.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm also grateful that the other people in charge allowed this thread. Although it is not your everyday FineTunedMac fare, it has done a lot of good for this loyal user. It really helped a lot. Thank you and best regards.

You're not a ship in dry dock, you are a bionic man with a new life to look forward to.

Thank you. That is very helpful. I need to look ahead now that the cutting is over. Although I'm not there now, I've spent enough time in New York to know that the people there have a survivor mentality. My hat's off to you.
