So here you are

It's a good thing I checked the CNET forums again. Someone posted that people from Macfixit had moved over to finetunedmac.com, and here I am, back home.
I can't believe the stupidity of the changes over at CNET/Macfixit. There was a great thing going and they killed it (note: add Macfixit to Ad Astra thread). I'm speechless about the whole thing. Just stunned into inarticulateness. I'd been using Macfixit and its forums for so long.
Very glad to see something start up here. Thanks.

Welcome to FineTunedMac. In just over a month we have grown from 7 members (the moderators, admins, & webmaster) to your registration today as member number 558. You will find a lot, perhaps most, of the MFIF regulars as well as no few new faces. Glad to have you aboard and please pass the FineTunedMac word along to your Mac using friends that the community is alive and well.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

That was me. Somebody complained about useless forums on Cnet and I suggested to come here. The replies of their mod are very inspiring for us - they ARE struggling: MacFixit Forums

you know, they keep saying how much it's just the old MacFixit, but I don't remember ever seeing any of those guys on the MF forums. just saying.

True, but I was the last and posted more or less as deniro quoted; I guess he saw mine because it was on the first page, not to underestimate previous posters

I guess the lion's share of suggestions and advices on CNET Mac forum belongs to two moderators only. Judging from the efficiency of old forums and FTM, team approach is much better.

I guess the lion's share of suggestions and advices on CNET Mac forum belongs to two moderators only. I've had to correct MrMacFixit at least twice over there already.

They removed one of my posts from VersionTracker; its nature makes it difficult to fault them, but, on the other hand, I'd never have posted it had VT's "Edit" function not been eliminated.

Yes, we're out there.... slowly testing how much we can post there..... I've been surprised that they leave those up. Two possibilities: no one is minding the store, or, their software is so primitive, they can't remove posts! Actually, I think they have removed some, so it's gotta be the first one.

Might be their hierarchy. I've read in one post where the poster produced the address, name, etc. a warning from the Mod not to do it. When asked whether he could edit the post, he said that it was the Admin's privilege only. Since they are swamped with posts, maybe they just did not have time. This place has a lot to learn from old MFIF and FTM.

Just read your link Kevin. Wow, the mod's excuse was one of the most ridiculous I'd ever seen for a tech forum. I hear they also won't help you with web browser questions because they're mostly used for porn.
