I'm using Firefox 36.1 and on some sites a page will not load and it says javascript:void in lower left hand window. I followed this Oracle link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.htmlbut all the versions are for 64 bit, I think my Mac, build 7,1 is 32 bit. Have I hit the wall? Safari works fine on same sites.

Is "36.1" a typo? I d/l'ed v 36.0.1 just last night, and it's the latest stable version.

Typo.
Yeah, says Javascript:Void(null)
Then sometimes if I click a few times it goes through. Had this problem sometimes with older version of Firefox. So I went to Go> Utilities>Java Preferences>General> Then I switched order from Java SE6 64-bit first to Java SE6 32-bit first and thought that's all smart and stuff, but it did not solve the problem...

Javascript has nothing to do with Java, so you won't get rid of a Javascript problem by changing the version of Java you have installed.

I'm using Firefox 36.1 and on some sites a page will not load and it says javascript:void in lower left hand window. 1. I've found that unless I click directly on the link and let it connect however it wishes to (vs trying to open the link in a new window or tab), I often get exactly the behavior you describe. 2. Update your version of Firefox to 36.0.1 (if you have already as suggested by artie). It might help.

That "Javascript:void(null)" likely indicates the Webmaster is generating the link using Javascript. Attempting to open the link in a new window or whatever probably won't work; you need to just click on it.
Java and Javascript both have the word "java" in them, but they're as different as a sharkbite plumbing fixture and a great white shark. They are completely unrelated things with different functions, invented by different people at different companies.

Can I add something to my computer to make this problem go away, like Javashark or Sharkscript or something?

How about posting a link to a page on which this problem occurs?

It always happens with my online banking, so, I'm not sure I can post that, but I will keep an eye out for where it happens elsewhere. Thanks.

Although they all supposedly conform to one or more of the dialects of the same ECMA standard each different browser has its own unique implementation of the Javascript interpreter and there are differences and even a few outright incompatibilities among them. While the Mozilla Javascript interpreter that undergirds Firefox was the original and the base standard there can be incompatibilities, especially if the original target browser was Internet Explorer which has its own dialect called JScript. Try a different browser, I would suggest Google Chrome, and see if you have the same issue.

Javascript has nothing to do with Java, Sometimes I think they did that to us on purpose, just to confuse us. (it's working great!)

I am still having this problem in Firefox and it is very annoying. I can't post a pic because it happens with my online banking and commerce stuff. Is the problem related that maybe the website disables JavaScript for security reasons? I don't know why Safari doesn't have this problem.

Have you tried bouncing your issue off your bank's webmaster?

I called the commerce site, but they don't know and after some snooping around, I do believe the problem is Firefox. There are a lot of angry posts when you Google "Firefox Javascript" Most are old, but some are more recent. The issue may have been resolved when I just downloaded 37.0.2. The site seems to be working now. Time will tell.
Although this version still does not give me an option to turn Javascript off and on, and that seems to be the problem.
