itunes problem still

Still baffled with this issue:
I download a TV show from my laptop. The settings there say this is the main computer for buying items from i tunes store, but two computers are authorized to play purchased content.

My desktop: I can log ok, I see my name upper right. I authorized the dektop.

But when I click anything on the dropdown, (account, purchased items), —even after being already logged in —those log in fields reappear.

Which is not a problem except then I enter user/pass again, and the fields reappear again, and this goes in circles. Hence, I cannot access anything still with the desktop. Thanks, help!

Are you really still using 10.6.7? Upgrade to 10.6.8.

Yes, but your sig says that you're running 10.6.7.

I had that problem a while ago--having to log in over and over, and it never seemed to stick. I eventually solved it by the rather drastic action of deauthorizing all my computers, then authorizing them again--that cured it for me.

Thanks Gan, good link, as it show it's an issue.
I tried the last thing deleting that obscure folder and rebooting on both machines. Did not help.

Not sure about the first ideas, as I am the root and only user on both machines, and I'm logging into the same apple account too.

I hope you mean you're the admin user. You should never log in as the root user (and it annoys me that Apple even allows it).

Did you try again deauthorizing and reauthorizing after deleting the folder?

Yes, as I stated it did not work. I'm the only user, I don't log in as anything. Its only me on the machine. thanks.

You may have the only logon account on your system but you are not the only user! The other users are an inherent characteristic of all Unix variants including the BSD Unix that undergirds OS X and iOS and are essential to the system's operation. For example on my machine, where I have the only logon account the current list of users includes: daemon, Guest, joemikeb, nobody, and root.

As gangbustein intimated it is possible to logon as root, but it is dangerous and ill advised to do so (unless you enjoy frequently reinstalling the OS grin ). This is part and parcel of the fact that although you are the sole logon user of your computer, you do not own all the folders and files and even as an administrative user you do not have full access privileges everywhere on your computer.

If you want to see all the users on your Mac open terminal then copy and paste the following command onto the command line and press return.

dscl . list /Users | grep -v ^_.*

Your statement that you deauthorized and reauthorized was made before you deleted the folder; did you try a second time afterwards, as per ganbustein's suggestion?
