What's present status of Little Snitch 2.2b1?

I went to Version Tracker to check out Little Snitch's possible compatibility with Snow Leopard. One commenter wrote in an authoritative tone that v2.2b1 isn't ready for prime time. Has anyone on this forum tried it with Snow Leopard?

I normally won't install betas, but I did with LS, and I have had no problems with SL. For that matter, I can see no differences other than the version number.

So I say gopherit.

Agreed.

EDIT: I first read your response as "gopher it" rather than "go pher it." Was wondering who'd still be using the old Gopher protocol... wink

Ah Lynx. I also used Gopher a bit after graduating to Mosaic (1995 for me), since a lot of govt sites still required it. The pains of being a poli sci major...

Anyhow, back on topic: Just wanted to point out that beta has become a relative term, so no inherent reason to fear it. For example, Google defines beta in their own terms; they just took Gmail out of beta a few weeks ago. And in some cases "stable" releases can lag behind seemingly for ages, while developers expect users to instead run the beta. The Tab Mix Plus add-on for Firefox is one such example. LS's case is similar: just because it's officially beta, doesn't mean it's no good. Whenever a new OS is released that requires some quick patching from software developers, you'll tend to see a lot of companies recommending betas for compatibility until they've had the time to run them through more rigorous testing. Basically, it's a CYA play, and understandably so.

Thanks for the comments. I've never had any trouble from Little Snitch and I thought that the "not ready for prime time" comment might be a little harsh. I'll go pher it.

And the good news is that LS is very simple to uninstall if you do run into any issues: just run the installer again and click the "Uninstall" button. wink
