10.9 Security & Privacy Query

Mavericks, new & enhanced (?) privacy, now requires the user to specifically enable/allow apps to access, or contact other apps. And that is ok with me.

My problem is that apps which I have deleted are still being reflected in System Preferences/Privacy.

Apparently when I deleted them I did not delete (all) necessary pieces, so at least the Privacy function now thinks they are still installed. I would delete these files, but my searches have failed and I don’t know where the miscreant files reside.

Have you suggestions of where they reside or how best to remove them?

I'm not running 10.9 and can't help, but others may find it helpful to know which apps are causing you this grief.

Good point, Artie. So FWIW, the following are what's pestering me:

In Contacts, AOL Desktop appears and that was deleted about a month ago.

In Location Services, iStumbler was deleted about 6 months ago.

Frankly I don't know whether this all work or not, but I have come to rely on CleanApp to do a thorough deletion of all remnants of an application. It will even find and delete remnants of previously deleted applications, internet plug ins, Widgets, Screen Savers, Quicktime components, Fonts, Preference panes, and Kernel extensions.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Problem solved!

Control+Clicking removed the iStumbler, but not the AOL Desktop. So I thought it was worth trying the Control+Click routine while in Safe Boot. But when I got there, AOL Desktop was also gone. And after a normal boot as well.

I am not complaining about the resolution, though there is much I don’t understand.
