Hi Guys,
I have a problem with my Canon PIXMA 610 printer not scanning to my computer. Previously I ran 10.8.4 and now am working with 10.5.8 (I upgraded somewhat quickly I think, and did not think to go through the ramifications of the upgrade).
The printer is connected via USB cable: and I receive the error message “MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly. Click to reopen …â€
I have downloaded the latest drivers in an effort to circumvent this error … did not work.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Just to make sure I understand you correctly: you downgraded from Mountain Lion to Leopard, or was it the other way around? If the latter, did MP Navigator get updated with the Pixma driver? If not, you might want to check Canon's support web site for updates. It also looks like you need MP Navigator EX 1.0 Opener to scan starting with Snow Leopard and up.

OOPPSS!!!
I put my digits around the wrong way. Sorry 'bout that.
No, the MP Navigator was not upgraded in the process - I thought to do that prior to my post of a few minutes ago. The upgrade appeared to work well. The Canon website is sparse on detail - and thanks for the Opener comment.

Since nobody has added more to this thread, I'll jump in. If all else fails, reset the printing system. Before you do that, you might try (re)applying the Combo 10.8.5 Update. This has type of procedure has been known to cure weird problems.
