I've made some changes to the FineTunedMac home page, incorporating some of the suggestions that people have made and also posting a new bulletin about yet another variant of the DNSchanger malware that has recently started making the rounds. I'm also interested in ideas or suggestions about what else might belong on the home page. Apple-related news? Particularly informative forum threads? Anything else?

It looks great! I like the link to MFIF. Apple-related news would be nice to see, like Snow Leopard arrival date. Highlighted threads, maybe, but you might be swamped by the workload. A mention of the new FAQ section in the works might also help. I would also cut the upper portion of the picture to avoid "explicit language". Some enterprises might block the site for employees. Mine does exercise such control.

Looks great! As a thought this could be used for "Late Breakers" such as this morning's announcement Snow Leopard will be in the stores this Friday and online orders submitted before Wednesday should be in your mailbox on Friday as well.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Nice job!
I think teasers for popular troubleshooting threads would be a good idea, sure. Maybe eventually even pulling in some recent Mac-centric news from around the web (via RSS, Google search plugin, whatever).

Great start. Thanks for all your work on starting the site and keeping it humming. Here's a list or outline of possible links to include, with all being available on each page linked to, if you know what I'm trying to say.

Much improved. I think it needs a much more visually prominent link to the forums... perhaps graphical. Considering it's the main feature of the site. It should really stand out.

1. I'm particularly pleased that our iconic Mac no longer looks like it's been shot between the eyes.
2. > since MacFixIt/com went down
MacFixIt has not gone down; only MFI Forums. (Or is that deliberate?)
3. > [i]"Web sites which attempt totrick you"
> "even if you do not click anythig on the hostile page."
Typos!
It gets better and better; many thanks for your continuing great work!

I agree. That's what I had in mind with the list of links; a graphic that would be on each page (perhaps excepting the Forum Index) prominently displayed, then followed by the paragraphs of information.

Thanks for the feedback! The typos have been fixed, and the image has been cropped and replaced with a link to the full screen capture. That should address concerns about the parts of the malware site that aren't suitable for work.
I'll be continuing to work on other changes throughout the week.

For pure aesthetic value maybe small photos of the Cats from early in OSX to Snow Leopard OS 10.6?

> You can click on this image to see a complete screen capture of a malware site (note: screen capture contains words and images that might not be appropriate for some work environments).
I'm not certain why a link to the full image is necessary, but if you feel it is then perhaps your caveat ought to include kids.
Suggestion: If you expect to continue posting malware reports on FTM's home page it may pay to treat it as a feature and give it a search-friendly name... "FTM Mac Malware Update" or some-such.

That's true. I had't intended to make that an ongoing thing; I posted that particular report because that strain of the DNSchanger (and that technique fro downloading it from a Mac-specific Web site) were new. Do you think it'd be worth it to keep an ongoing Mac malware section on the site?

Tacit,
I think that a malware section would be a very useful permanent feature. You have a lot of interest, knowledge, and credibilty regarding this subject.

It doesn't seem the least bit likely that FTM will be publishing an all-encompassing Mac news page any time soon, so, and with MMT3's "I think that a malware section would be a very useful permanent feature. You have a lot of interest, knowledge, and credibilty regarding this subject." in mind, I'll come back at you with a resounding YES!
Even smug Mac users like to be up to date on lurking dangers, and your in-depth knowledge of the subject and user-friendly presentation would not only be a great draw for FTM, it would enhance the site's credibility.

Hear, hear! A niche within a niche, but an important one, could be a great draw leading to some good linkage.

Maybe I'll start wearing a T-shirt with the latest Mac-related news written on it, in an attempt to enhance my credibility.
