Personally I don't have it, but I marked it as potentially useful based on generally favorable reviews. Apparently it doesn't just checks file names, but also compares content. Some think it's a bit pricey for a utility like this, but if you consider the price of the acclaimed iTunes dupe manager Dupin (which offers other functionality as well), it doesn't seem excessive. Various Gemini reviews recommend you select which dupes to delete rather than letting Gemini do this, to avoid obvious errors or deleting originals (as oldest copies defaulted for deletion). MacPaws offers a Demo version, so you can give it a test drive and see for yourself.

Based on your reply, I will keep it in mind. I will google the reviews and decide if the reviews warrant the cost. I did look at the demo you mentioned. It seems to have more uses than I actually require. Thanks for your opinion. jaybass

Your post got me to checking and I found that somehow I had gotten a few hundred duplicated tunes in my Library. I went to the App Store and downloaded Song DeDuper and in less than four minutes it had identified the duplicates, then according to my selected criteria decided which of the duplicates to delete, and deleted them. The application cost roughly $1.25 per minute of operation for deleting all my duplicate tunes. Worked great for me. For all duplicate files, not just Tunes, I find the duplicate file finder in CleanApp works pretty well, if a bit slow.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Have just read your reply. That software is very good but I only have leopard and I cannot use it. I'm thinking of installing 10.6 but I don't think my disk warrior would work with snow leopard. That would cost me a bundle to replace. I don't know if there are other apps that would be affected. Anyway, what are the major differences between the 2 systems? jaybass

(Note that your DW disc may not be able to boot your Mac, but if its version is compatible with your version of OS X it will run from another volume.)

Nice to know. I started with DW 4.1.1 and for a nominal fee was able to purchase DW 4.2 and from that Alsoft allowed me to make a DVD with 4.3. However, I cannot boot up from the 4.3 I have access to snow leopard so I'll check out what apps if any are affected. Thanks artie. jaybass
