In Users/name/Music/iTunes…

I have many (61) old iTunes Temp Files, some going back to 2002. Any reason I need retain them?

Also, I have 19 iTunes Export files, again dating from 2002. Is it ok to delete those as well?

I don't have any such temp files. they are likely left-overs from when itunes was doing something (like importing) and crashed.

I do see an interesting file there however, it's a hidden file called "sentinel", that gets updated whenever I quit or launch itunes.

I too see some in a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries" in the sequence of folders you gave in your original post. Mine go back to 2008.

Different versions of iTunes required that the existing iTunes library be "updated" after the new version of iTunes was installed. I suspect these previous are the older versions.

Probably safe to delete since your current iTunes library is backed up 19 different ways, right? smirk

On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

Please accept my apologies guys. I failed to mark this thread as a "watched post" and then promptly forgot I had posted the question.

Tardy though I am in acknowledging your response, I do appreciate your insight.

In sum, those files have now been deleted; apparently without dire consequence.
