Merci. Never heard of Perian, but even if I don't use it, it'd probably be a good additional to QT.

That's too bad, even though Perian is less of a must-have today than it used to be. But since that is largely due to the fact that many of QuickTime's missing codecs have been marginalized over the years, you might still run into one or the other. For this reason I still consider both Perian and Flip4Mac essential to transparently extend QuickTime's limited reach.

I think flip4mac is about it now for quicktime plugin packs.
