In another thread (which shall remain nameless) mention was made of the assassination attempt on Archduke Franz Ferdinand which arguably was the germ of the Great War (ie, WW-I).

Passing curious and clearly coincidental (?!):
The latest two books that I'm in the process of reading quasi-voraciously — Mordecai Richler's Barney's Version (1997) and Stephen King's 11/22/63 (2011) — both reference the event early on in their narratives.
