Drinking wine — good. Reading Pogue — good. Combining the two — not so much. Very wise not to attempt assays into the inner machinations of the machine without full possession of one's faculties ... in my case especially. (But I does luv my wine.)
If you're planning on upgrading to Lion, given the multitude of "hidden" and "secret" manipulations which are included in same, Pogue's book is IMHO essential, if only to save a lot of trial and error in navigating the new system.

I sure do. I enjoyed quite a bit of it last weekend.

A friend has the following sign at the entrance to his house:
We Will Drink No Wine Before Its Time. It's Time.

A friend has the following sign at the entrance to his house:
We Will Drink No Wine Before Its Time. It's Time. Which is a close second to the " No left turn unstoned" sign that graced the foot of Ken Kesey's driveway.

The only "authoritative" reference I can find says: The La Honda house where Kesey's adventures became famous—one mile (1.6 km) west of Apple Jack's Inn—has been faithfully restored after years of neglect and a near catastrophic flood in 1998, although the road sign on the bridge no longer exists: "No Left Turn Unstoned".[citation needed] (I've got zero idea what " the bridge" is.)

(I've got zero idea what "the bridge" is.) I'm not entirely sure I am describing the right bridge, but Ken Kesey's property ( one mile west of Apple Jack's Inn) was reached by a wooden bridge across the creek running along Highway 84 (La Honda Rd).

That sounds like it could have been considered the foot of his driveway.

Correct. The creek in question is the one that flooded and damaged the cabin (and possibly the access bridge) in 1998.

Just had occasion to visit the online additions for Pogue's missing manual under Missing CD-ROM ( http://missingmanuals.com/cds/macosxlionmm/) and noted under Appendix B a hotlink to MacFixIt.com and nary a mention of FineTunedMac.com. Mayhap an admin or two or ... should put a bug in his ear.

When Pogue's Snow Leopard book appeared, I emailed him (via the publisher) with several errors, one of which was corrected in a subsequent printing. The error about MacFixit was included but that was never addressed. Having owned virtually all the previous OS versions of the book, I became aware that he left most of the writing unchanged, merely updating the information for the newest OS.
