As much as I like Apple products, I can't even imagine paying such a high price as this.

What a sad, sad story.

By nature, teenagers are ruled by harmones, impulsive, incredibly short sighted, and impatient to have what they want now. Fortunately for the survival of the race, most survive long enough to outgrow that sometime between the late teens to late twenties. My question in this morality tale is "Where in H___ were the parents when this was happening?" It is their job to protect the child long enough to outgrow their teenage stupidity.

A bigger issue than this foolish teen is the word market for human for human organs. This NPR essay provides interesting and thought provoking viewpoint of this market and why it exists. Like all problems of this sort easy and quick answers are non-existent.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

Sad but... that's from a culture (and mentality) which differs from ours.

...and a perfect cue for me to link to one of my favorite bands [not for the faint-of-heart, fair warning]

God Save The Spleen

[lest there be any doubt, that Swedish band is very much against the practice of harvesting human organs, and they are protesting the issue in the same manner as folks like Frank Zappa and Stephen Colbert do: with satire.]
