My daughter generates PDFs that are needed on two different websites and she sends a copy to me for uploading to one of the sites. She does the upload at her business site. For me, it's always a straightforward process.
However, last week after uploading I got this dialogue box: "Cannot extract the embedded font 'QETLZA+Times-Roman'. Some characters may not display or print correctly".
Sure enough, the PDF would not display in Times New Roman (it displayed a non serif font). It also seemed to scroll a little less smoothly.
I then went to her business site, downloaded the PDF posted there, and uploaded it to the first site without getting the dialogue box. It displays correctly and scrolls smoothly.
There are different hosts/CMS but that has always been the case.
Thoughts?

Thanks Jon. That was the issue.
As suggested by the article, I opened Font Book and checked for OpenType PostScript fonts - and found I had about a dozen. Font Book also told me I had quite a few duplicates, so I turned them all off. I then re-tried the upload but getting rid of duplicates didn't solve the problem.
I did see that one person solved it by clearing the font cache. I then cleared mine using OnyX, retried the upload, and everything worked fine.
The upside is that this reminded me how little I know about fonts. I've never paid any attention to fonts and, in fact, I use a very limited number of them. However, opening Font Book suggests there are probably a few things I could do to improve my font situation (and education). e.g. Is it enough just to turn off the duplicates? If they are duplicates it seems to me I should just get rid of them...et cetera.
I think it's time to become more familiar with Font Book.

You missed the point, ryck; there's a d/l subsequent to 10.6.7, " Snow Leopard Font Update" (3.77 MB).
