MBP Track Pad

Just got my first MBP - first laptop of any kind, for that matter - and am learning how to use the track pad.

However, I have some difficulty with running out of pad when I try to drag a file from one window to another. (My current method is to highlight the file/folder and then press down until I hear the click of the pad under my finger. Then I drag the file/folder . . . which is when I run out of surface area on the pad.)

Any "workaround" techniques for dragging and dropping
files/folders?

What I do on my MacBook is move my finger back, repeatedly sometimes, while I continue to press; I assume that's also the way an MBP works.

No problem here: click and hold using the thumb... then use any finger (middle works best for me) to freely and effortlessly move about. If need be, lift the middle finger up (keeping thumb depressed) and grab some more pad.

[i just assumed that's how everyone did it]

Press with my thumb...move my index finger.

Thanks, Folks.

I was thinking that I couldn't lift the dragging finger without breaking the "connection."

I (then) also switched the thumb-click press from the lower righthand side of the pad to the lower lefthand side (under System Preferences - Trackpad).

P.S. I am righthanded, so this new setup allows more movement of my right hand while my left thumb stays put AND out of the way!

Easy when you know how!!!!
