I just took a look at LastPass - Screencasts (Basic Instructions), and I don't see how it differs (on the surface) from Safari's AutoFill other than that it's not as easy to use.

Like artie505 I also looked at the site and the video, and concluded that it's probably not much different than the function in Safari....and the Safari route seems easier. However, if you're not a Safari used, the point may be moot.

I like having the function built into my browser because, as the browser gets various security updates, so should this function. It's one less thing to worry about.

Thanks for the input.

I used Safari for several years and then decided to try Firefox - which I am currently using.

My concern, naturally, regarding ANY of these Password Manager applications is that if the Master password is "discovered", then I presume all the passwords under that main one would be accessible. Meanwhile, I have a pile of passwords that I am keeping track of in my head!

I've taken Virtual 1's lead, and I back up my passwords, both AutoFill and non, in an encrypted/password protected disk image.

Why don't you use Firefox's "Remember passwords for sites" functionality? (Its master password functionality seems to me to be little more than an emulation of OS X's Keychain Access functionality.)

Which is, more or less, no different than what happens in OS X if your keychain password is discovered.
