Hi:

I got a response to one of my posts. When I clicked on the link in my email that was supposed to take me to the post I got "access denied." Any ideas?

Thanks.

I also looked the response post up where my original post was and it's not there either.

Here's the explanation.....

Someone posted a spam reply to your thread and that reply was removed....your email notification told you to go look at the reply, but it now lives in the FTM trash and you can't get there.

Here's a peek at the note that Cyn appended when she pulled the post.

Edit Reason: spam reply to plantsower's post #9985 removed from Audio, Video, Photography

Hope that helps explain the mystery. blush

Thanks for the explanation. The post response I got in my email didn't have any spam in it. Just suggestions. Maybe they didn't show in the email?

Anyway, thanks.

The entire reply was spam.

Cyn: I was going to send you a PM but it was disabled. Was it because he recommended iFunia? Others have recommended other products to help me and weren't removed as spam. I am very confused as to why this was regarded as spam. I would like to send you what I got in the email. I won't put it here since you think it's spam, but I'm not sure why you think so. There was a link for iFunia. There was no member number so he wouldn't be getting anything out of it. Please explain. I don't want to be accused of sending spam someday and not understand why.

I am sending you a private email.

Thanks so much.

Rita

Hi, Rita,

When you mentioned iFunia I remembered that it was I who flagged that post as possible spam.

I don't remember the exact details, but I do remember the post as having been carefully crafted to not look like spam, (Edit:) but not quite carefully enough to be totally convincing, so I flagged it with a question mark for wiser heads than mine to pass on it, and I guess my gut feeling was correct.

Hope this helps.

Rita, the iFunia suggestion was the first red flag because iFunia stuff is common spam material (if http://oncallnerd.com/blog-spam-hunt was being updated iFunia would definitely be there).

But being me I looked closer, to be 100% sure. Not surprisingly, I found that blue66 had just registered, has an IP address from China, and is using Windows...3 more red flags in spam identification. I also spent some time following trails on Google and found plenty more spam posts linking to the wikiHow article.

Artie, I didn't receive any alert for blue66's post. Methinks you're remembering one you sent a few weeks ago, on a different iFunia spam post with a different link. Username in that case was Jane55.

Thanks guys. I still can't see where it's spam but you are more trained in that than I am. Can I take it that iFunia isn't a great product and I should stay away?
I just can't get anything to download my videos off peak. I've tried so many products it's not funny. I was looking forward to trying this but am now hesitant.

I posted a reply in your other thread Watching Videos offline, which is better suited for the topic.

Thaks, cyn.

I knew iFunia rang a bell, but I didn't know it rang two of them.

(Edit: blue66 & Jane55... Hmmm)
