Hello all. I have a MacBook Pro keyboard problem.
Client's i5 MBP, 10.6.4
The built-in keyboard will not type the letter "q", but only for one user. Login as another user and all is well. Probably a bad preference in that user's Library, but which one?
It's only the lowercase q that is missing

Check System Preferences > Language & Text > Text to see if perhaps there is a substitution set for the lower case q.

If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?

You might also look in System Preferences > Speech; see if q is set as the Listening or Text to Speech key.

Back up everything you can't afford to lose: documents, mail, movies, music, photos, and other data and settings.

That was it! The client had set up q as the speech key.

Thanks!
