I have a Mac Mini, 2018 paired with an HP 27" HD monitor, 1920x1080. OS is Ventura if that makes a difference. Resolution is currently 1600x900 and my setup doesn't appear to like that resolution.
I can see a lot of choices but not sure what I should choose. I know I will have to make a lot of setting changes to get it to look similar to current set up. What are the considerations in selecting a new resolution?
Thanks in advance.

1920x1080 is indeed a recommended resolution setting. For more guidance check out this article. Scroll down a bit for the part that discusses Mac settings.
On a Mac since 1984. Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

Thanks Ira, that's an interesting article. Have tried several higher resolutions than current, 1600x900, but all the menus are too small for me to read comfortably. I have already used Accessibility set Menu Bar to 'Large'.
Would be nice if you could adjust the OS menu bar and the menu bar for apps to be larger while keeping a higher resolution. Looks like I'm stuck with a lower than optimal screen resolution so I can read menus. In the alternative, if I could find the fountain of youth to make myself younger with better eyes that would work too.

You might try turning Zoom on (System Settings > Accessibility > Zoom). It is highly configurable and can either magnify the entire screen or put up a movable PIP (Picture In Picture) screen. I use the PIP mode triggered by a trackpad gesture to turn it on and off.

There are also options in System Settings > Accessibility > Display helpful for those of us with aging eyes. It takes some experimentation to find the combination that works best for you, but focusing on our common problem of reading the fine print such as ...> increase contrast, reduce transparency, differentiate without color, Display Contrast, Menu Bar size.
Note: If, after changing some of these settings, you aren't seeing a noticeable change, try a restart. Some will not take effect in some applications until there has been a restart.
