OS 10.13.6

Now that I have high sierra, I should be able to download imgur but it seems that I need an iPhone or other device. I found one way of installing using terminal but I would like to avoid that if possible.

Is terminal the only way for someone with an iMac?

I see Imgur related apps for desktop Macs in imgur app for desktop mac search results, but I've got no idea what functionality you're looking for, so I don't know if any of them suits your needs

Your answer suggests there are different apps? I am not familiar with imgur at all. When I said it could be downloaded using terminal, what exactly would that give me? I remember some time back on this forum you said I should download imgur

in order to convey what ever it was but at that time, but I only had Sierra which cannot accept imgur.

Getting back to terminal. is that an advisable option?

IMGUR is an internet service you log onto although there are downloadable apps as well. Personally I have never found a need for an app or browser extension to use IMGUR. Uploading and downloading content is generally self-explanatory on the site itself but you can read about the basics here.

The reason I wanted the app was because It might be useful sometimes when answering/posting a question on FTM.

As you may have noticed in the past I couldn't successfully post what I wanted to.

Seeing as you don't use it, do you have an alternative that you do use?

You may be having a problem because you now need to have an account and log in before you can post.

To post a screenshot or other type of image...

1. Go to https://imgur.com/upload.
2. If you haven't got an account, create one.
3. Log in.
4. Click on "New post" in the top left corner if you don't get a "drag & drop" window first.
5. Either drag your image into the window or browse for it.
6. Click on "Copy" in the next window to copy your image's URL to your clipboard.
7. Create a link using FTM's "Create a link..." tags...2nd icon from the left.

Yes, I have been that route before and because I only have a regular phone, I cannot create an account because I cannot receive a 7 digit code number.

Considering that I have never had imgur, I think I'll forget it. What's the saying... you can't miss what you've never had or words to that effect.

Ah, ha!

I didn't understand your "regular phone" reference, until I tried to set up a new account and learned that unlike when I set up my account, you now need to enter a code that they text to you.

I'll contact them and see if there's a way around it.

LOUSY assumption that everyone's got a cell phone, and this isn't the first time I've run across it.

(Actually, you have successfully uploaded images in the past by following my original instructions, but I couldn't begin to locate even one of them.)

I contacted Imgur, and your only options are to sign up via Facebook or, if he's got a cell phone, to have your son sign up for you using your info and pass the account on once he verifies the texted code.

I can't imagine why Imgur insists on texting the code when email is no less secure.

My financial institutions offer me a choice of email, landline, or text when they need to send me a code.
